Catskill Red Quill $30/Dozen FREE USPS SHIPPING!
Hendrickson - Ephemerella subvaria. The Red Quill, one of the most famous of the Catskill mayflies. These are big, prolific flies that bring trout to the surface from mid-late April through the month of May. The unique characteristic of this hatch is that the Males and Females look very different and often times, will emerge from different sections of the river. Trout may key on one or the other and switch their preference at any time. Be ready for both. Females are lighter and typically larger. Use the Light Hendrickson when fish seem to be keying on the female and the Red Quill when fish seem to be keying on the Male. Look for them to emerge on rainy or cloudy days at noon when the water temperature is 50 - 55 degrees. Spinners fall in the late afternoon - early evening. Cold weather may delay the spinner fall until the next morning. We offer several versions and sizes to match each stage of the hatch and to fool even the most selective trout. Each fly is hand tied right here in the Catskills by a Member of the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild using the highest quality hooks & materials. They work "Reel Well" $30/dozen FREE USPS SHIPPING!
